Technical Assistance for Increasing the Employability of People with Disabilities
International Closing Congress “Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation”

International Closing Congress “Occupational Therapy and Rehabilitation” of the Project “Technical Assistance for Increasing the Employability of People with Disabilities” will be held in İstanbul on 31 May, 1-2 June 2017 under the auspices of Prof. Dr. A. Haluk Özen, the Rector of Hacettepe University.
During this event, information will be provided about the project outputs, project activities for the people with disabilities and the pilot Vocational Rehabilitation Center of Turkey which has been established as the first comprehensive center in this field. National and international participants will be giving speeches, sharing papers and organizing workshops on increasing the employability of the people with disabilities, occupational rehabilitation, driver rehabilitation, ergotherapy and rehabilitation, efficiency of employees, life quality, activity and health, physical and psychosocial health risks, social involvement, accessibility, interdisciplinary studies, communication and motivational interviewing.
The Project “Technical Assistance for Increasing the Employability of People with Disabilities” started on 16 November 2015 and will end on 15 July 2017. This twenty months project is co-financed by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey and the contracting authority is the Ministry of Labour and Social Security. The Beneficiary of the project is the Hacettepe University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy.
The purpose of the Project “Technical Assistance for Increasing the Employability of People with Disabilities” is to prepare training modules for development of self-management and career skills for an increased employability of the people with disabilities and to train trainers that will implement these modules. Another purpose is, by means of Vocational Rehabilitation Center, to facilitate the return of employees to work after injury and efficient work thereof, assess and increase the working capacity of the injured or disabled individual prior to work and render other services including workplace reorganization.
By means of Vocational Rehabilitation Center, Hacettepe University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Occupational Therapy will have an increased research and service capacity and train trainers and health professionals specialized in employment of the people with disabilities.
Working in coordination with İŞKUR, Turkish Employment Agency and in contact with all relevant stakeholders, the Vocational Rehabilitation Center will be conducting work on increasing the awareness level about the people with disabilities among such people, their families, employers and relevant institutions.
